My commute to school requires 25 miles each way on the DC beltway. The speed limit is 55 mph. I consistently drove 70-85 mph up until the day someone showed me how to weigh my options.
Reasons for me to speed Reasons for me NOT to speed I love to drive fast I’m late (happens a lot and my professors don’t like it) I can get away with it Most everyone else does Saves me time—time I can use for other wonderful things I enjoy! To honor God
[In case you’re wondering how that honors God, check out Romans 13.]
After weighing my options, I moved from the fast lane to the slow lane. Have you heard that obedience is joy? I didn't believe it until I laughed the whole way to school.
PS. Sinful habits die hard. The second I let down my guard I automatically accelerate to pass a car. I only slow down when I remember God. Some might call my driving erratic. But it's improving. And if they only knew my joy :)
